when the mount is ready to be used, cut a length of the arm plate to fit over the mount. there is no need to cut the plate in two. however, if a repair is needed, the mount can be cut off the plate and the arm plate replaced. be sure that the mount fits tightly over the arm plate, and that the arm plate will not move when the mount is used. in some cases, a suitable surface may be glued to the arm plate to help hold the mount in place. if the mount is used in a water environment, it may be necessary to coat it with a noncorrosive material (see above).

for a static modeller, it is easier to use plasticine in the brushing mode. plasticine should be applied in a relatively thick layer, approximately 1mm, on top of the arm plate. brushing mode is the most convenient way to use plasticine.
the three modes of plasticine operation are shown in the figure. in the top mode, the plasticine is brushed over the arm plate. plasticine applied in this way usually dries fairly quickly and will not flow. in the second mode, plasticine is applied to a thin layer of dried plasticine on the arm plate. the plasticine should be brushed on top of the thin layer of plasticine. in the third mode, a mound of plasticine is made on the arm plate. the mound should be brushed on top of the plasticine on the arm plate. plasticine applied in this way usually dries fairly quickly and may flow.
the term is used in these tests for a surface of the material which is not metallized or plated and which does not have a protective coating such as lacquer or paint. the term is not used for the exterior surface of a finished article of jewelry, a finished article of equipment, or an unfinished item which is finished at the factory. the term "surface" is used in these tests for an external surface or for a surface of a material, and it is not limited to a three dimensional surface.
